Fundus autofluorescence (FAF) shows hyperautofluorescent lesions due to lipofuscin accumulation in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). Over time, areas of hypoautofluorescence may appear, indicating RPE atrophy. FAF is crucial for monitoring disease progression and assessing the extent of retinal involvement.
